The original limestone plasters are completely natural products resulting from the mixtures of specified mineral ingredients in specific proportions. In principle, all the plasters are products with a high vapor-permeability. This is an important feature, especially if they are to be used in rooms with high humidity, such as the kitchen or bathroom. With water vapor diffusing outside, there will be a wholesome microclimate inside. Another common feature of decorative plasters is their good adhesion. High quality products does not really need a quartz primer to have a good hold to the base, but it makes applying thin layers easier. Thin plaster layers helps evenly drying.
Too thick layer can couse cracks on the surface. Decorative effects created on plasters require precision applying. Proper finishing of all subsequent layers guarantees achieving the perfect effect. The basic tool necessary to work with decorative plasters is a notched steel, which is used to evenly distribute the substance.

The visual effect will depend on the exact applying technique – there are some discrepancies in the various adaptations despite following the same instructions, but as a rule, travertine effect of a trowel is to make a contrast streaks on plastered surfaces and distinctive gradations between colors.
